Facebook Launch Local Business Page Verification Feature

Branding is very important when it comes to business, especially in online marketing. We see a lot of accounts owned by celebrities and other prominent names having that tiny check mark beside their name which signifies that they are the official accounts. Obviously, this draws more followers and fans towards the account. This gives more branding and lead generation opportunities. Guess what, as a business owner, you can now have that feature added on your page! However, you have to read through this article to know the big “but” on this feature.

Guessing that you might be itching to get that check mark on your business page don’t you? Let’s pause for a moment and see if your page is eligible.

  • Is your business address added in your “About Us” page?
    • Make sure the Map shows up

  • Does it indicate that you live on the countries listed below?
    • United States
    • Canada
    • United Kingdom
    • Australia
    • New Zealand
  • Is your business page categorised as a Local Business?
    • Click here to know how to update your category.

If your answer is “yes” to these questions, then congratulations! You are eligible to have your business page verified.

Getting started

What do you need to do to get that tiny check mark on your business page? Simply follow the steps below.

Step 1: Log on your business page and click on the Settings menu.

Step 2: Click on the Page Verification edit option. Then Click on Verify This Page.

Be reminded that this will only show on your settings if you met the criteria stated at the first part of this article.

Step 3: For this step, you would have to choose between two options.

  • Option 1: Let Facebook Call you for the verification.

  • Option 2: Send Supporting documents to verify your business.

That’s pretty simple hey! Facebook will then apply this feature across all countries and categories in due time. So if you still wish to have that verification icon added on your account you could always try to request it to the developers. They would have to review it and there has not been any assurance given that it would be granted to you. You can try this link to know more on how to request for verification on your page or profile.
